Progressive car seats are a choice made by many parents for both practical and budgetary reasons.

Why is it good for babies to travel rear-facing?
1. The majority of car impacts are frontal (62%) or side impacts from a frontal angle (25%).
2. At the moment of impact, the child’s body is thrown forwards, which can lead to severe trauma. If the baby, whose spine is fragile and not fully recognised, is sitting in a forward-facing car seat, at the moment of impact, the limbs and head are thrown forward, putting a lot of pressure on the cervical region (the baby’s neck).
3. If the baby is rear-facing, the car seat absorbs the impact and fully protects the baby’s body.
4. The reasons why it is important to protect a baby’s cervical spine are that at a young age it is hypermobile and not fully ossified. Furthermore, in a baby, the weight of the head represents about 25% of the total body weight, so the neck area is exposed to more pressure during impact than in an adult.
5. European legislation recommends that babies should be carried rear-facing for as long as possible, at least until the age of 15 months.
6. A practical investment for any parent: The same car seat practically grows with the child and can be used from birth up to the upper age (weight) limit imposed by law.
