In November 2023, the ADAC published a test of various pregnancy belts and came to the conclusion that such belts do not provide additional safety in the event of an accident – or can even lead to a higher risk during an accident.

The correct way to wear a a pregnant women should wear the seat belt is to position the shoulder belt on the shoulder and away from the neck. It should rest across the chest and all the slack should be removed from the seat belt.

The pregnant women should never place the shoulder belt under your arm or behind the back.

The lap belt should be secured below the  belly so that it fits snugly across the hips and pelvic bone.
